Panel: Understanding Contemporary International Relations

The Adayaalam Centre for Policy Research hosted a panel discussion: “Understanding contemporary international relations from the perspective of the Tamil struggle for self-determination and justice”

Speakers:

(Moderator) Dr. K.T. Ganeshalingam is the Head of the Department of Political Science, University of Jaffna.

Dr. Suthaharan Nadarajah is a professor in the Centre for International Studies and Diplomacy at the London School of African and Oriental Studies in the UK. His Ph.D. looked at the Sri Lankan armed conflict and Norwegian-led peace process as a case study. He has conducted policy research on Sri Lanka’s conflict, terrorism proscriptions, armed groups and war-to-peace transition, diaspora mobilisation, and donor-recipient dialogue for the Asia Foundation, Berghof Foundation and European Commission. Before joining CISD, he lectured in International Security at the University of Sussex.

Mr. M. Nilanthan is a well-known political columnist and analyst based in Jaffna. He previously worked as a political columnist and sub-editor for Jaffna-based weekly Thisai from 1990, as a political columnist for Eelanatham in Jaffna from 1991-1993, and in Kilinochchi from 2000-2005, and as a political columnist for ‘Veera Kesari’ from 2002-2005. Since 2013 he has been a political columnist for ‘Thinakural’. In addition, Mr. Nilanthan writes Tamil poetry and has held exhibitions of paintings and illustrations done by him.
